Bobcat Company specializes in compact construction and utility equipment. Its products include mini track loaders, skid steer loaders, loader backhoes, excavators, and a range of attachments for all of them. Based in North Dakota, the company operates manufacturing facilities in the US and in France and the Czech Republic. There are more than 900 Bobcat dealers in 75 countries. Bobcat made up one-half of Ingersoll-Rand’s (IR) Compact Vehicles Technologies segment (with Club Car being the other half) until 2007. That year IR sold Bobcat, along with its utility equipment and attachments businesses, to Korea’s Doosan Infracore and Doosan Engine for $4.9 billion.

Building more than cocoons, Caterpillar is the world’s no.1 maker of earthmoving machinery and a leading supplier of agricultural equipment. The company makes construction, mining, and logging machinery; diesel and natural gas engines; industrial gas turbines; and electrical power-generation systems. Caterpillar has plants worldwide and sells its construction equipment globally via a network of 3,600 locations in 180 countries. Caterpillar offers rental services through more than 1,600 outlets worldwide and it provides financing and insurance for its dealers and customers. Deere & company, one of the world’s two largest makers of farm equipment (CNH Global is the other), is also a leading producer of industrial, forestry, and lawn-care equipment. Its farm equipment includes tractors, tillers, harvesting machinery, and soil-preparation machinery. Construction equipment includes backhoes, skid steers, dump trucks, waste equipment, and excavators. For the forestry industry Deere makes harvesters, feller bunchers, and knuckleboom loaders. Deere’s equipment also include residential and commercial lawncare products and equipment, and golf and turf care products.
