American Classic Car Insurance

The number of people involved in classic car collection is on the rise. This has made insurance companies realize that these unique and extraordinary cars need special insurance. One may insure a new or used classic car with a regular insurance company, but may not receive the best offer that way. Hence, it is preferable to approach companies that specialize in classic car insurance since they offer a better coverage and a more nominal charge.

American Collectors’ Insurance has been America’s premiere supplier of classic car insurance ever since 1976. Various insurance policies underwrite different kinds of collector cars, including classic cars, antique cars, classic motorcycles, new and used street rods and antique trucks. American classic car insurance companies follow certain specific guidelines that enable a car to qualify as a classic.

These specifications could include age of the motor vehicle depending on the state one resides in. In certain states, a classic collector car must be at least 15 years of age. To avail insurance, one may not be allowed to drive the classic car for more than 2,500 miles every year. One may be required to keep the classic vehicle in a garage and possess a clean driving record with at least 10 years of driving experience.

In America, a classic car owner may avail of an “Agreed Value Coverage”, which covers the full insured worth of a classic car. This involves agreement by both parties, i.e., insurer and the insured on the value of a classic car, which is written in the policy. In the event of a mishap, wherein a car is considered totaled, the company pays a previously agreed amount for the car.

In most cases, the price of classic car insurance is less than what one anticipates. This is attributed to the fact that a few American insurance companies have placed certain restrictions on cars that are insured. While deciding on an insurance policy, classic car insurance is much better than regular car insurance for a classified car. The owner must consider acquiring a quote from a business that specializes in classic car insurance in order to save a lot of money and also have the best security for their investment and collectible.

Cab And Chassis Trucks - The Skeletal System

Cab and chassis trucks are a popularly chosen group. For those who are just beginning in the trucking industry, understanding the different types and models of trucks and trailers is highly important. You can find much information via the internet about the different types of trucks that you may need for your new business venture.

Generally speaking, a cab and chassis truck simply refers to a skeleton-like truck. The cab is intact but the chassis is simply a rail that allows you to have any type of equipment installed. The more popular types of these trucks are used for the assembling of box trucks or emergency vehicles such as ambulances. The chassis is fitted with the necessary aftermarket equipment which allows it to be used for whatever purpose is needed. There are many aftermarket equipment suppliers available for you to order your package to complete your commercialized truck in the style or design that you want. Whether you want a box truck design or something completely innovative, these suppliers can help you to determine exactly what you need for your business.

Many of these types of trucks are purchased used, which saves money and allows for the new owner to turn the truck into whatever type of vehicle that they need. Ambulance services, although they typically purchase their vehicles new, have been known to find and buy used versions of these types of trucks saving the organization thousands of dollars when they need to add additional ambulance carriers to their fleet.

If you are in the market for cab and chassis trucks, you can begin your search online. There are many places in which you can find these trucks. Typically, when you purchase a truck from an online site you are given many photos in order to gauge the style, design and overall condition of the used vehicle. These photographs will help you to determine whether or not the truck is the right size and in the condition that you desire. There are literally thousands of them available at prices that may astound you. If you have priced new trucks then you already know how expensive they can be. Purchasing used versions gives you the savings that you may need to begin a new business on the right foot, while still giving you the truck that you need for your new business purposes.

The Varieties Of Used SUVs

If you’re looking for a used SUV, there is truly a huge variety to choose from. Everything from the sporty Toyota RAV-4 to the powerful Chevy Suburban is available from recommended used car dealers on the web. Be sure to check out pictures and prices when you’re shopping for your used car online.

Some of the smaller, sportier SUVs are the RAV-4, the Jeep Liberty, the Isuzu Rodeo and the Nissan XTerra. Reliable and on the small side, with horsepower in the 130s and 140s, these SUVs are more fuel efficient and easier to park. The smaller SUVs have better handling, often with improved steering and torque. The Xterra has a supercharger option for more rugged driving.

Some lesser known used SUVs that you might want to look for are the Chevy Tracker, a gutsy jeep-like all-terrain vehicle. It’s light on its feet with a 2.0L 127 HP engine, but it’s way ahead on the gas mileage, with 23 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Also keep your eyes peeled for the Toyota Highlander, a four speed automatic with a 2.4L 155 HP engine. It combines the versatility of a 4×4 with an easy drive fit for a soccer mom.

At the top of their class are the truly hefty, road-hogging SUVs with real power and acceleration. One of the most popular is the Ford Expedition. The Expedition has a 4.6L V-8 232 HP engine, and can haul anything. But it’s got an elegant interior with smooth shifting, and comes in a four speed automatic with overdrive. It’s match is the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which feels like a sports car with a 4.7L V-8 engine. Whatever your choice of used trucks or SUVs, you’ll find what you’re looking for on the web.

Introduction To Industrial Cranes

When you are in charge of acquiring industrial cranes for your company, you voluntarily take on a substantial responsibility, in that the cranes you purchase must meet rigorous standards of safety and structural integrity. In other words, industrial cranes, particularly the more immense they get, must be operated with a fractional margin for error, as crane mistakes can lead to personal injuries or worse. You are aware, then, that any crane you purchase must be made according to the highest standards of production, and that vendors must be chosen carefully according to their commitment to excellence.

You are probably also aware of the wide range of new and used cranes for sale available, including, among others, wall- or floor-mounted jib cranes, gantry cranes, bridge or overhead cranes, boom cranes, truck-mounted cranes, and so on. Because of this diversity of available styles, it is crucial to know the exact specifications of any industrial crane you will be purchasing. Crane type, load capacity, vertical available lifting height, and horizontal available span–you must consider each of these capabilities, as well as optional features like automation, rotation, wheels, and so on.

You can be certain, however, that whatever style of crane you purchase, it will be a viable aspect of your operation for years to come. Also certain when you purchase this heavy equipment will be a the significant monetary investment that your company will make, so it is essential that you find a highly-qualified vendor who can offer you the best product for the best price. There are a number of ways to go about finding the most eligible vendor, but one method you should consider involves evolving Internet search capabilities.

During the initial growth phase of the Internet, engineers and heavy equipment manufacturers had not yet developed efficient online search methods for quickly uniting purchasers with vendors. However, in recent years, this technology has reached a level of refinement of a degree that you can gain immediate access to extensive lists of vendors, product reviews and comparisons, technical articles, and much more. Jump online today, research these powerful sites, and find those industrial cranes that will be an integral part of your enterprise today and for the future.

Introduction To Used Pickup Trucks

The selection of used pickup trucks is tremendous, with a number of top performers you should consider. All the major American car manufacturers put out a solid, dependable 4×4, and there are some sturdy Japanese pickups as well. The Chevrolet Avalanche has a 8.1L V-8 engine that ramps up to 320 HP in the 2500 model. The 1500 model boasts a not-so-shabby 285 HP with a four speed automatic transmission.

Ford weighs in with its new and used Ford F-250 pickup trucks and F-150, and with top ratings for longevity and performance, sure to be winners in the used trucks category. The F-150 has a 202 HP V-6 engine, and the F-250 has the muscle of a 260 HP V-8 engine. The brawny F-350 has a 5.4L V-8 engine with 260 HP, a six speed manual transmission, and maximum trailer weight of 12,500 pounds.

Dodge Rams come in 1500, 2500, and 3500 models. The 1500 Ram has 175 HP, the 2500 has 225 HP. The 3500 ramps up to a 5.7L V-8 engine with 345 HP and a five speed with overdrive. These babies are big-rig influenced, and have been overwhelmingly popular pickup trucks new and used, since their introduction in 1994.

Toyota puts out some great competition with its Tacoma and Tundra models. The Tundra, with its 190 HP V-6 engine and updated suspension, rides like a passenger car, according to industry reviews. But whatever kind of used 4×4 or pickup truck you’re looking for, you can find the best prices on the Internet.

Motorhomes Versus Towed Trailers

New or used motorhomes for sale can come as a single integrated vehicle, or as a hitched trailer pulled with an independent tow vehicle. There are compelling arguments for both options that cover cost, convenience, and safety.

Motor homes and RVs come in two main configurations, namely, those that are integrated self-powered vehicles, and those that are towed by a detachable vehicle. There are classes of every size in each of these two modes, ranging from small camper vans to hundred thousand dollar conversion trailers on one side, and small caravan-style travel trailers to the largest used fifth wheel trailers and park models on the other. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, and which is suitable for you really depends on your requirements, budget, and circumstances.

The single most compelling argument for your purchasing any of the integrated models such as Class A, B, C, conversion vans, or camper vans is quite simply that the vehicle is included with the RV itself. Towing is not a trivial process, and inexperienced drivers should not attempt to tow an RV (or anything else) without proper instruction or supervision of someone who does have the necessary experience. It should go without saying that practicing your towing skills on your brand new mobile home could prove to have rather costly consequences!

With the classes mentioned, the RV component of the mobile home is built around the vehicle chassis itself. This means that you can trust (with reasonable certainty) that the frame and engine of the vehicle are ideally suited to the load you will be carrying. While it’s still necessary to approach the vehicle with many of the same cautions as you would when towing a load, such as paying close attention to how much cargo you load up, the road conditions, and your speed, once you’ve properly stowed everything and you’re ready to move off, you can quite simply do just that: Drive away.

Some of these vehicles (conversion vans in particular) have the added benefit of providing immediate access to the rear, main compartment of the RV from the passenger and driver area. Many RVs are not designed to be used while in motion; however, this is not the case for some vehicles which feature this open-plan style design, which younger travelers in particular might find appealing for road trips and camping. Always consult your RV dealer on exactly what is safe to do in any particular motor home you wish to buy. Good dealerships will be able to advise you on the individual safety notes of each model they sell.

The advantages of new or used park models, bi-fold trailers, travel trailers and 5th wheel coupling trailers are also quite compelling, for different reasons. First and foremost of these is the simple fact that once the RV is deployed, the tow vehicle can be detached and driven away independently. This allows you greater flexibility once your RV is parked, in that you can drive faster and with greater ease than with the load on the back. As well as general ease, lightening the load will allow your vehicle to drive places the assembled RV cannot, which is likely to be advantageous if you’re staying in national parks or away from major highways. Perhaps best of all, however, is the fact that without the extra few tons of load, the vehicle is much more fuel efficient when driving.

Other advantages to a hitched trailer are that once the RV itself is deployed, should you need to drive into town or go out for supplies, you needn’t ready the RV for movement again, and anyone who wishes to stay with the trailer can do so. In the case of park models, 5th wheels, and some larger trailers, it is not normal for the RV to have a dedicated tow vehicle. Instead, a single truck can deliver and pick up the RV at a designated time, which is more cost effective for all concerned. You need only own the trailer itself, which allows more of your money to go into buying features, as opposed to the underlying vehicle, while the tow vehicle can be hired as needed from any trucking company.

The Upcoming Toyota Cars

AVALON: New standard equipment for 2009 includes electronic stability control, emergency braking assist, active headrests (which can help reduce the chances of whiplash in a rear-end crash) for the driver and front passenger, and standard satellite-radio prewiring for the stereo.

COROLLA: The tenth-generation Toyota Corolla, introduced as a 2009 model, is already on sale. The conservative styling job is an update of the old car’s shape with cues from the smaller Yaris. The model lineup is similar to the 9th-gen Corolla, with Standard, LE, XLE and S grades, all powered by a 132 horsepower 1.8 liter engine. 2009 also sees the return of the XRS model, now with a big 2.4 liter engine that puts out 158 horsepower.

FJ CRUISER: Roll-sensing side curtain airbags, active front-seat headrests, and a cut-off switch for the electronic stability control system are among the changes seen on the 2009 FJ Cruiser, along with three new paint colors.

MATRIX: The all-new 2009 Matrix mini-wagon is also on sale now, and is available in Standard, S and XRS models. Base and S share a 1.8 liter engine; the S will offer optional all-wheel-drive. The hot-rod XRS makes its triumphant return with a 2.4 liter engine that turns out 158 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque.

VENZA: Toyota is labelling the Venza as a “crossover sedan”, but it’s more of a beefy all-wheel-drive wagon — think of it as a short Highlander or a Subaru Outback without the butch factor.

YARIS: All Yarises (Yarii?) will get antilock brakes, front-seat-mounted side airbags, and side curtain airbags as standard equipment. Toyota will introduce the 5-door Yaris — which has been on sale in Canada and other markets for a couple of years now — to the US market for 2009. Prices of this luxury car will start at $13,305, $1,000 more than the Yaris 3-door and $40 more than the Yaris sedan.

UNNAMED SPORTS COUPE: Toyota has confirmed plans to develop a rear-wheel-drive sports coupe in conjunction with Subaru. The current plan has the Subaru version going on sale in 2010, with the Toyota version following in 2011.

PRIUS: The third-generation Toyota Prius is expected in the next year or two.

The Growing Progress Of Eclipse Aircrafts

Eclipse Aviation is the manufacturer of the world’s first certified very light jet; the Eclipse 500. Eclipse Aviation is in the business of designing, certifying and producing modern, affordable jet aircraft that will revolutionize the transportation market. Eclipse Aviation is applying advanced electronics systems, manufacturing and business practices to produce aircraft that cost less than a third of today’s small jet aircraft, will be significantly safer and easier to operate than those of today, and have the lowest cost of ownership ever achieved in a jet aircraft.

For Eclipse Aviation the goal is to bring the word “personal” into aviation, making it possible for commercial air passengers to move directly between cities on a quick, affordable and convenient basis. The Eclipse 500 jet will also allow pilot owners to enter the world of jet-powered aviation.

The Eclipse 500 received its full FAA certification in September of 2006 and already has a backlog of over 2,000 aircraft. A driving force behind the current success of the Eclipse jet is the advent of the air taxi industry, which provides a cost effective business jet charter service from a convenient community airport on a per seat basis. Start-up air taxi companies such as DayJet have already placed significant orders with Eclipse Aviation.

The progress of the Eclipse 500 has already been a huge boost to much anticipated launch of the very light jets aircraft category. Time will tell whether it will have an even greater affect on our commercial aviation system.

The Fast Cars

In the 1960s there was a class of cars introduced to the world known as muscle cars. These cars were sleek and sporty and contained a powerful engine. Most of these cars boasted a V8 engine which was geared for speed. As these cars were produced the manufacturers were in stiff competition with each other. As each manufacturer tried to out do the other, we were led into an era of some of the fastest cars of our time. With no thought to gas and fuel efficiency, Americans seemed to be having the time of their lives. Their cars were fast and eye-catching, both on the road and on the race track. Racing stripes and flashy decals made a statement about both the car and the driver. It seemed the flashier the car the more desirable.

At a time when the luxury automobile was the king of the road for the married set, the younger crowd wanted something smaller, faster, and sportier. The Shelby Mustang and the 440 Roadrunner are two of the fast cars which were built to satisfy the desire for high performance and speed. There were many more fast cars to come. Camaros, Chargers, GTOs, and Firebirds all tried to pack as much punch under the hood as was possible. Chevrolet Corvettes offered speed and sleek style, but they also had a high price tag. Most of the other high performance cars offered a price that was affordable to the average working class people.

During the 1960s and 70s auto manufacturers were riding high on a wave of speed and performance. Then we entered an era where we were told gas was in short supply and we were destroying the ozone with our extravagant auto emissions. We reluctantly let go of our fast and sporty cars and took to the streets with a V6 and even a V4. Gas mileage and cheaper insurance costs forced the fast cars onto the race track and off the roadways.

The desire for speed will be with us always. We will probably never again see a time when speed and high performance engines are sold for the every day street car but we can get a glimpse of these cars at the raceway or at vintage car shows. The baby boomers were around to see these cars at their inception and they still carry a torch for them today. Many will spend a small fortune to restore one of these original fast cars back to their former splendor.

The Ever Reliable Mack Trucks

The journey of Mack Trucks began in 1893 when the Mack brothers, Jack and Augustus, bought over Fallesen & Berry factory. Soon, the Macks started experimenting with various steam and electric motor cars. Inspired by the inventions taking place all around him, Jack envisioned the building of heavy-duty trucks and thus began an eventful journey. The first product from the house of Macks was a bus, which was used by sightseeing concessionaire Harris and McGuire, for eight years before it was converted into a truck. The success of this bus egged the Mack brothers to continue with truck development. However, old Mack trucks were known as ‘Manhattan Trucks’ as the brothers had sought a different name to distinguish the trucks from their other business, viz. their horse-drawn carriages.

In the early 1900s, Mack Trucks became famous as ever-reliable trucks that could easily endure rugged terrains. Soon enough, the brothers engaged in adding new features that would enhance the safety and comfort aspect of the driver. For instance, Mack Truck Inc. were the first truck manufacturers to introduce a constant mesh feature that protected gears from being damaged or stripped by inexperienced drivers.Mack Trucks Inc is known for building heavy-duty trucks that are capable of enduring a punishing terrain and the vagaries of nature.

In 1919, Manhattan Trucks was re-christened as ‘Mack’. Later, in 1922, it adopted bulldog as its corporate logo. The British government had chosen the sturdy Mack trucks for transporting important war supplies and food requirements to the soldiers on the front. These Mack trucks, with their blunt-nosed hood, resembled a bulldog. Besides, the Mack trucks were proving as tenacious as bulldogs. These qualities reminded the British soldiers of their official mascot the ‘British Bulldog’. In fact, when faced with a truck problem, the soldier would often say,  “Aye, send in the Mack Bulldogs!” Now, Mack Truck Inc. viewed this as a matter of pride and hence they adopted the bulldog as a corporate symbol to represent all the future generation of Mack trucks.

Since then, Mack trucks have undertaken important missions of national and international importance. For instance, they played an important in the trans-continental convoy conducted by the US Army, which highlighted the need for a national highway system.  Similarly, Mack Truck Inc. played a major role in the building of the Boulder dam.  It also played an important role in the Second World War. Mack trucks found themselves adorning the role of prime movers, personnel carriers, wrecker trucks, tank transporters, and more.
