An Introduction to ATV Vehicles

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

The first ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) had six wheels instead of four. It was developed sometime during 1950s in Japan primarily to combat its mountainous topography and isolated rugged regions. Particularly during spring when the ice thaws and rivers would gain intensity, mountain roads and non-maintained paths are often impassable with contemporary vehicles. In addition, these early ATVs became popular in rural areas where the means to go over rough terrain in the absence of roads is quite frequent and considered necessary.

When Honda exported the first ATV to the United States in 1970, the US90 was by large sold purely as a recreational ride. Though it is still a very popular use even to this day, the growing number of ATV users quickly found out that the supreme efficiency it has over rough terrain gave ATV a wide variety of uses.

Honda had a virtual monopoly on the market during ATVs early days, owing it to the smart patents on the ATVs design and engine placements. Its maiden release in the western market, the US90 was designed by engineers specifically for joy rides. Later that year, Honda employed smart tactics to trademark the name ATC and renamed the US90 model to ATC90. The ATC90 had 7 hp through dual-range 4-speed gearbox with automatic clutch and features large balloon tires that can soak rough terrain. Honda had released two more ATCs through the decade and all of them were revolutionary.

When ATVs moved onto the next decade, models were then distinctly divided into two usages, for sports and for utility. Sport models are built for performance; lightweight, high power, good suspension and low center of gravity became vital factors for ATV construction. These models accelerate quickly, have manual transmission and can run up to 120 km/hr. Since they allow travel in most kind of terrain; these models became popular with game hunter and thrill riders.

On the other hand, its usage as a utility vehicle is very understandable. Because of its construction, ATV generally boasts remarkable strength with regards to its body. With its structure able to withstand an amount of load and wheels, which allows passage over demanding terrain, it is virtually perfect for farm use and construction sites. All the more since ATVs requires only a fraction of fuel what typical heavy machine would consume.

Cab And Chassis Trucks - The Skeletal System

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Cab and chassis trucks are a popularly chosen group. For those who are just beginning in the trucking industry, understanding the different types and models of trucks and trailers is highly important. You can find much information via the internet about the different types of trucks that you may need for your new business venture.

Generally speaking, a cab and chassis truck simply refers to a skeleton-like truck. The cab is intact but the chassis is simply a rail that allows you to have any type of equipment installed. The more popular types of these trucks are used for the assembling of box trucks or emergency vehicles such as ambulances. The chassis is fitted with the necessary aftermarket equipment which allows it to be used for whatever purpose is needed. There are many aftermarket equipment suppliers available for you to order your package to complete your commercialized truck in the style or design that you want. Whether you want a box truck design or something completely innovative, these suppliers can help you to determine exactly what you need for your business.

Many of these types of trucks are purchased used, which saves money and allows for the new owner to turn the truck into whatever type of vehicle that they need. Ambulance services, although they typically purchase their vehicles new, have been known to find and buy used versions of these types of trucks saving the organization thousands of dollars when they need to add additional ambulance carriers to their fleet.

If you are in the market for cab and chassis trucks, you can begin your search online. There are many places in which you can find these trucks. Typically, when you purchase a truck from an online site you are given many photos in order to gauge the style, design and overall condition of the used vehicle. These photographs will help you to determine whether or not the truck is the right size and in the condition that you desire. There are literally thousands of them available at prices that may astound you. If you have priced new trucks then you already know how expensive they can be. Purchasing used versions gives you the savings that you may need to begin a new business on the right foot, while still giving you the truck that you need for your new business purposes.

We are a consumer based company that rates Coachmen Motorhomes in North America. Our rating guides feature Coachmen travel trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes and toy haulers.

While attending a recent RV show I was impressed with Coachmen RV, in particular Georgie Boy and Sporstcoach. Coachmen, is one of the nation’s leading full-line manufacturers of recreation vehicles and modular construction. The company also has a housing division called the, “Housing and Building Systems Group”, which is America’s leading producer of modular homes. Recreation vehicles are manufactured under Coachmen Recreation Vehicles, LLC, Sportscoach RV, Georgie Boy Manufacturing, LLC and Viking Recreation Vehicles, LLC brand names. Class A motorhomes, Class C “mini” motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheel trailers and folding camping trailers. In 1964, Coachmen Industries was founded by three brothers: Tom, Keith and brothers built the company on principles such as:

“Practice the Golden Rule”

“Our Word is our Bond”
“Business goes where it is invited and stays where   it is well cared for”
“Dedicated to the enrichment of your life”
By staying committed to these principles, Coachmen has grown to become one of the largest full–line manufacturers of RVs in the world. The Corson brothers started Coachmen Industries, Inc. in a 5,000 square foot plant in downtown Middlebury, Indiana. First year production included 12 travel trailers, a single truck camper and 80 truck caps. Since that time Coachmen Companies have produced nearly 600,000

BMW motorcycles

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

single-cylinder models. In 1967, BMW offered the last of these, the BMW R27 [1].

Most of BMW’s offerings were still designed to be used with sidecars. By this time sidecars were no longer a consideration of most riders; people were interested in sportier motorcycles. The R50/2, R60/2, and R69S marked the end of sidecar-capable BMWs.

In 1970 BMW introduced an entirely revamped product line of 500, 600 and 750 cc displacement models, the R50/5, R60/5, and R75/5 [2] respectively. The engines were a complete redesign from the older models, producing more power and including electric starting (although the kick-starting feature was still included). The “/5″ models were short-lived, however, being replaced by another new product line in 1974. These models were the R60/6, R75/6 and the R90/6. In 1975 a supersport model, the BMW R90S [3], was introduced. The R90S immediately earned the well deserved title of the best supersport machine available.

Each of the last few years (2004, 2005, 2006) appear to be banner years for BMW. On 25 September 2004, BMW globally launched a radically redesigned K Series motorcycle, the K1200S, containing an all new in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine featuring 123 kilowatts (167 bhp).[6] The K1200S was primarily designed as a super sport motorcycle, albeit larger and heavier than the closest Japanese competitors. A K1200S set a land speed record for production bikes in its class at the Bonneville Salt Flats, exceeding 174 miles per hour (280 km/h).

In addition to the launch of K1200S, in 2006 BMW has also launched the K1200R “naked” roadster, and the K1200GT sports tourer. All three new K-Series motorcycles are based on the new in-line four-cylinder engine, with varying degrees of power.

In 2007 BMW added the K1200R Sport[4], a semi-faired sports touring version of the K1200R

Classic vs

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Used interchangeably antique cars and classic cars are most often thought of as the same thing. In some circles it is and in some it isn’t.

The term antique is most often used interchangeably with the term classic when talking about older vehicles. In many instances using one term or the other may mean the same thing, but there are differences between the two depend on the company you keep.

Antique Car Definition:
An antique car as defined by the Antique Automobile Club of America must be at least 25 years of age or older and is currently functioning and restored to comply with the manufacturers original specifications. Over the years the definition has been refined to include several classifications of vehicles. For example, in 1953 a new Class 18 - ‘Antique Cars with four-wheel brakes’ was added to the definition. There have been many changes in classes from time to time, but the common thread is that vehicles have to be restored, in good running condition and in excess of 25 years of age. Visit the AACA website for a more comprehensive history of the definition of antique vehicles.

Each motor vehicle department has varying definitions of the term antique vehicle. The state of New York for example, is much less discriminating in its definition than AACA (as with many other DMV’s across the US). New York’s DMV allows any vehicle in excess of 25 years of age to be issued historical or vintage plates. In order to qualify for these special license plates, however, the vehicle must be insured under a specialty insurance policy.

Massachusetts DMV classifies an antique vehicle as “any motor vehicle over twenty-five years old maintained solely for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, and other functions of public interest. This includes test drives to prepare for such functions and transportation to and from repair facilities, and not used primarily for the transportation of passengers or goods over any way.”

Some states require 20 years while others 25. It’s best to check with your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles in advance to avoid registration surprises.

Classic Car Definition:
Incorporated in September of 1952, partially because their vehicles were considered “too modern” to participate in AACA’s events the Classic Car Club of America defines a classic car as: “…fine or unusual motor cars which were built between and including the years 1925 to 1948. (Some cars built prior to 1925 that are virtually identical to a 1925 model that is recognized by the Club are currently being accepted on a “Please Apply” basis). All of these are very special cars which are distinguished by their respective fine design, high engineering standards and superior workmanship.”

CCCA understands that other clubs recognize other cars as classic vehicles that do not fall within their definition, but they do not consider them as ‘Full Classic’ vehicle. To review the list of ‘Full Classic’ vehicles as defined by CCCA, visit their website.

Probably the most important definition is how your insurance company defines these vehicles. Insurance companies have various programs to insure antique/classic cars. Some policies require the vehicle to be 25 years and older while others insure ‘newer’ collector cars.

Whether it is an antique or a classic vehicle, the only way to insure it is with a specialty policy. Listed below are several insurance companies that will be able to help you secure the right coverage for your vehicle:

Aircraft

Monday, July 7th, 2008

irst division by design among aircraft is between lighter-than-air, aerostat, and heavier-than-air aircraft, aerodyne.

Examples of lighter-than-air aircraft include non-steerable balloons, such as hot air balloons and gas balloons, and steerable airships (sometimes called dirigible balloons) such as blimps (that have non-rigid construction) and rigid airships that have an internal frame.

In heavier-than-air aircraft, there are two ways to produce lift: aerodynamic lift and engine lift.

In the case of aerodynamic lift, the aircraft is kept in the air by wings or rotors (see aerodynamics).

With engine lift, the aircraft defeats gravity by use of vertical thrust.

Examples of engine lift aircraft are rockets, and VTOL aircraft such as the Hawker-Siddeley Harrier.

Among aerodynamically lifted aircraft, most fall in the category of fixed-wing aircraft, where horizontal airfoils produce lift, by profiting from airflow patterns determined by Bernoulli’s equation and, to some extent, the Coanda effect

Rent A Limo, A Holden Statesman Or A Hummer H2

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Limousine (or in short Limo) is a name of a special, strangely long luxury car and are usually black (the traditional black limo is considered suitable for funerals as black is a color of mourning in most of the western societies) or white (the traditional white limo is fitting for wedding ceremonies in western societies) in color. Employed drivers called chauffeurs mostly drive these cars.

In general Limos are owned by wealthy people but in many cases governments, big companies and broadcasters to convey their top level politicians, executives and guests respectively also own it. These cars are believed or observed as symbols of wealth.Limousine cars, being a special luxury one have a partition in between the driver?s and passenger compartments, which is usually a sliding glass window. The partition is there so that any conversation between passengers can be kept confidential from the chauffeur.
The seat arrangement in these cars is forward facing (for passengers) with a considerable amount of foot room or foot space. There are two “jump seats”, that are mounted backward, of the driver, and they can be kept folded when not in use, but in some modern versions of limousine cars this feature is not found any more. A limo can carry seven passengers in addition to the driver. Sometimes these cars hold items of entertainment for the passengers like audio players, television, video players, and even bars along with refrigerators. Limousines have multiple doors.

Some of the popular limousine cars are Mercedes S600 Pullman, BMW 74Il, Holden Statesman, Hummer H2, Jaguar XJ, Maybach 62, Cadillac DTS, Lincoln Town Car and others.

Though Limousine cars are considered to be a symbol of wealth and are thus thought to be owned by rich individuals but in most of the times it has been seen that only limousine service or rental companies own limos. Even those rich people who include limos as their major means of transport do not always possess a limousine. What they do is that they go for a contract with a limousine service or rental companies for a long-term basis to get the availability of the vehicle on a lease agreement.

Apart from prosperous and well off persons, anyone in need of these cars can hire it by making contact with any rental firm or organization, which offers or provide limos on lease on a short term basis (as going for long term could be very expensive for them to afford). The most frequent necessities or demand for these limos are for going to airports, balls, proms, weddings and sometimes even to funerals.

Caterpillar - dump trucks

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Did you know that the world’s largest heavy dump truck, the Caterpillar 797B, costs a cool $4.6 to 5.7 million? Twenty-five feet tall, thirty-two feet wide, and forty-seven and a half feet long, this heavy dump truck can carry up to 345 tons of waste. It’s so huge, the heavy dump truck has to be shipped in pieces to any buyers with millions to spare and assembled on site.

The world’s largest heavy dump truck, most often used for open pit mining, can hit speeds of up to 42 miles per hour with its 3550 horsepower engine. Any company that can afford the minimum $4.6 million asking price probably knows that maintaining the Caterpillar 797B is no inexpensive matter, either. If you ever need to replace one of the four-ton, thirteen-foot tall tires, be prepared to shell out $40,000 each!

Unless you are the owner of a huge open pit mining operation, the heavy dump trucks you deal with at your farm or construction, mining, or demolition company are probably smaller and less expensive than that. Still, what’s small and inexpensive next to the giant Caterpillar 797B is not necessarily small and inexpensive on its own. Half a million dollars is not an unheard of asking price for many heavy dump trucks, although there are quite a few in the $50,000-100,000 range.

The best bet for anyone looking to buy a heavy dump truck for their farm or business is to look for a used dump truck at a used heavy equipment classifieds website. While the wealthy Caterpillar 797B owners are out on a few million dollars, you could find a gently used dump truck like the 1983 Ford F-700 for as little as $7000 at a used machinery classifieds Web site! Some sellers even offer their used dump trucks at negotiable prices, so you might find an even better deal!

If the used dump truck is as effective and as functional as the latest new heavy dump truck, why not save yourself thousands by buying the used dump truck online? If you find the right used heavy construction equipment Web site that charges absolutely no buyers’ fees and requires no upfront down payments, you’ll have the freedom to inspect the heavy dump truck firsthand before committing thousands to a used dump truck that might not be as high-quality as the For Sale Ad picture made it out to be.

Need to rent a used dump truck? Some used machinery classifieds Web sites offer no-fee For Rent Ad services so that you can spend perhaps a couple of thousand dollars for one month’s use of a used dump truck without breaking the bank for a heavy dump truck you’ll only use a few times.

If you can’t find the exact heavy dump truck you need at a used heavy construction equipment classifieds Web site, look and see if the site offers free Want Ads. Describe the used dump truck for which you’re looking, display your price range, and the sellers will find you!

If you’ve got a few heavy dump trucks going unused and taking up space at your farm or construction company lot, find the right used construction equipment classifieds Web site and you can sell or lease your heavy dump trucks to earn back some or all of your initial heavy dump truck investment!

A good used machinery classifieds Web site charges sellers nothing to place For Sale or For Rent Ads and also charges no transaction fees when a buyer or renter is found. What may seem like a small percentage—10 or 20%—adds up when you’re selling used machinery worth tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. What’s the point of going online to sell your heavy dump truck if the classifieds Web site makes such a large portion of your sale?

Don’t forget: If you have quite a few used dump trucks to sell or lease, a used heavy equipment classifieds Web site that offers a free company store link will increase your odds of selling more than one heavy dump truck to each customer. Why not take advantage of a service that lets buyers browse through your company store selection at no cost to you?

Free basic membership in these websites sometimes offers every buyer and seller the above features at absolutely no cost to them.

You may not be able to afford (or even need) the Caterpillar 797B, but you can afford a heavy dump truck that’s going to meet your farming or construction needs if you look for a used dump truck at a free used construction equipment site. Sign up for a free membership at a heavy equipment classifieds website and shop around for the best pices on used dump trucks—you’ll have nothing to lose!
